Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (TKPRPGP) developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is a structural analogue of the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (TKPR), extended with a proline-glycine-proline (PGP) C-terminal sequence to enhance metabolic stability and prolong biological activity. Selank has been extensively studied in preclinical research for its effects on GABAergic neurotransmission, neurotrophin expression, and neuroimmune signalling.
Selank has been studied in preclinical models for its effects on GABA-A receptor modulation, producing anxiolytic-like effects without direct benzodiazepine-site binding. It also inhibits the enzymatic degradation of endogenous enkephalins and has been investigated for its effects on BDNF expression in the hippocampus, IL-6 and cytokine modulation, and serotonergic and dopaminergic neurotransmission.
Selank is frequently co-investigated with Semax in preclinical neuropeptide research — both are available as a pre-formulated Selank + Semax blend.
This peptide is supplied as a lyophilised powder and requires reconstitution with Bacteriostatic Water prior to use.
