ACE-031
ACE-031
ACE-031 is a synthetic research peptide analogue (CAS 1621169-52-5) designed to mimic the ligand-binding activity of the activin receptor type IIC (ActRIIC) extracellular domain. By binding and neutralising myostatin (GDF-8) and related TGF-β superfamily ligands, ACE-031 has been investigated in preclinical research as a tool for studying the regulation of skeletal muscle mass and neuromuscular biology.
Mechanism of Action
Myostatin is a potent endogenous inhibitor of skeletal muscle growth. ACE-031 acts as a competitive antagonist, sequestering myostatin and other negative regulators such as GDF-11 and activin A before they can engage endogenous ActRIIC receptors on muscle fibres. This disinhibition of muscle hypertrophy pathways has been demonstrated in research models to increase lean muscle mass and improve functional muscle metrics.
Research Applications
- Myostatin inhibition and skeletal muscle hypertrophy studies
- Neuromuscular disease modelling
- TGF-β superfamily ligand biology research
- Muscle wasting and cachexia investigation
- ActRIIC signalling pathway studies
