BPC-157
BPC-157
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It has been extensively investigated in preclinical research for its regenerative and cytoprotective properties across multiple tissue types, including musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and neural tissues. BPC-157 is a stable, water-soluble peptide that has demonstrated a broad range of biological activities in in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
Mechanism of Action
BPC-157 exerts its effects through multiple pathways, including upregulation of growth hormone receptor expression, modulation of the nitric oxide (NO) system, and promotion of angiogenesis via VEGF signalling. It has been shown to accelerate the healing of tendons, ligaments, and muscle tissue by stimulating the outgrowth of tendon fibroblasts and increasing collagen synthesis. Additionally, BPC-157 exhibits gastroprotective effects by maintaining mucosal integrity and modulating prostaglandin activity.
Research Applications
- Tendon, ligament, and musculoskeletal repair studies
- Gastrointestinal mucosal protection and healing research
- Angiogenesis and wound healing investigation
