ARA 290.00
ARA-290
ARA-290 is a synthetic 11-amino acid peptide derived from the helix B surface of erythropoietin (EPO), specifically engineered to activate the innate repair receptor (IRR) — a heterodimer of the EPO receptor and the β common receptor (βcR) — without stimulating erythropoiesis or haematopoietic effects. It has been investigated in preclinical and early clinical research for its cytoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties.
Mechanism of Action
ARA-290 selectively binds to the innate repair receptor (IRR), which is expressed on non-haematopoietic tissues including neurons, pancreatic β-cells, and immune cells. Activation of the IRR triggers anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory signalling cascades, including PI3K/Akt and JAK2/STAT3 pathways, promoting cell survival and tissue repair. Unlike full-length EPO, ARA-290 does not bind the classical homodimeric EPO receptor responsible for red blood cell production, making it a selective research tool for studying tissue protection independent of erythropoietic activity.
Research Applications
- Innate repair receptor (IRR) biology and signalling studies
- Neuroprotection and peripheral neuropathy research
- Pancreatic β-cell survival and diabetes modelling
- Anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective research
- EPO-derived peptide pharmacology studies
